Yonathan Pelach won the 2026 men’s U18 EURO scoring title with 97 goals. See his scoring rate, share of Israel’s goals and three-goal winning margin.

Yonathan Pelach scored 97 goals for Israel to finish as top scorer at the Men’s 18 EHF EURO 2026. Israel placed tenth. This was the men’s under-18 European championship, not the senior men’s EURO; the EHF’s All-star announcement confirms both his tally and Israel’s finish.

Across Israel’s eight final-tournament matches, that works out to 12.1 goals per Israel match. Pelach supplied 38.6% of Israel’s 251 goals—nearly two out of every five.

The eight matches behind the calculation

Israel’s final-tournament campaign ran from 29 July to 9 August 2026. Its official EHF season results list the following eight fixtures. Scores below put Israel first, regardless of the original fixture order.

Date Opponent Israel-first score Stage
29 July Croatia 29–33 Preliminary round
30 July Czechia 30–30 Preliminary round
1 August Portugal 22–30 Preliminary round
3 August Switzerland 44–38 Intermediate round
4 August Montenegro 31–27 Intermediate round
6 August Poland 35–34 Cross matches 9–16
7 August Austria 31–22 Cross matches 9–12
9 August North Macedonia 29–39 Placement matches 9–12
Total Eight matches 251–253 Final tournament only

The scoring-share calculation is 97 ÷ 251 × 100 = 38.6%, rounded to one decimal place. Israel averaged 31.4 goals per match; Pelach’s contribution was 12.1, with all other scorers accounting for the remaining 19.3 per match on average.

The denominator matters. The EHF team page also lists three qualification fixtures from October–November 2025. Those are a separate phase and do not belong in this final-tournament calculation. The table counts each played final-tournament fixture once. The rate uses Israel’s match count, rather than a separately verified count of Pelach’s appearances.

A three-goal scoring-title margin

Pelach finished just ahead of the Faroe Islands’ Boas Ellefsen á Skipagøtu, who scored 94 goals. Switzerland’s Janis Thomann was next with 66, according to the official competition scoring list. Pelach’s winning margin was therefore three goals, despite the much larger gap between the leading pair and third place.

The EHF also notes that Israel supplied the top scorer for a second consecutive edition: Asaf Sharon had taken that distinction in Montenegro two years earlier. Pelach’s 97 is the confirmed 2026 tournament-leading total, not, on that evidence alone, an all-time U18 EURO record.

What 97 goals tells us—and what it does not

The total shows scoring volume and a substantial share of Israel’s goals. It does not establish shooting efficiency: 38.6% is his share of team goals, not his percentage of shots converted. That would require his shot-attempt count; a goals-per-minute comparison would likewise require court time.

Top scorer and MVP were also separate distinctions. Slovenia’s Jaka Podvrsic received the MVP award, while Pelach led the goal count, as the IHF’s tournament review confirms. For the title-winning side’s match story, see our Germany–Slovenia U18 final turnaround analysis.
