German Handball Super Cup winners: every champion club and title year

All eight German men's handball Super Cup winners through 2026, their title years, Kiel's record and Magdeburg's latest 38–31 victory.
THW Kiel are the record German men’s handball Super Cup winners, with 13 titles. SC Magdeburg are the latest champions, beating Füchse Berlin 38–31 on 22 August 2026. The competition began in 1994 and reached its 33rd edition in 2026. HBL’s official history confirms the record holder and edition count; its event page records the latest result and date.
This list covers the German men’s club competition, known as the Rexel Super Cup from 2026—not a national-team tournament or a combined men’s and women’s record.
Every winner and title year
Eight clubs have won the 33 editions played from 1994 through 2026. Years below refer to the calendar year of the Super Cup match, rather than the season in which the qualifying league or cup trophy was won.

Coverage: German men’s Super Cup, 1994–2026; updated 26 October 2026. Source: handball-world’s complete winners and finals register. Kiel’s individual title years are also listed in the club’s official honours record, while the EHF’s Lemgo profile confirms Lemgo’s four winning years.
Kiel’s 13 trophies represent 39.4% of all editions (13 ÷ 33 × 100)—a share of titles, not a match-winning percentage. Their four consecutive wins from 2020 to 2023 are the longest winning streak. Rhein-Neckar Löwen won three straight from 2016 to 2018; Lemgo were the first club to defend the trophy, in 2003. The historical register records those sequences.
The latest result: Magdeburg 38–31 Berlin
Magdeburg’s 2026 win was their third Super Cup title and their first since 2001. They led 20–15 at half-time, then outscored Berlin 18–16 after the interval, calculated by subtracting the half-time scores from the final scores. The match produced 69 combined goals and a seven-goal winning margin: separate measures of scoring volume and how decisively the match was won. Magdeburg’s official match report confirms the final and half-time scores.
It was a substantial margin, but not the competition record. HBL identifies Kiel’s 41–31 win over Kronau-Östringen in 2007 as the largest, at ten goals; Magdeburg’s seven-goal victory matched Hamburg’s margin against Kiel in 2009. HBL history
Who qualifies—and which records stay separate?
The Super Cup normally pairs the German league champions with the DHB Cup winners in a season-opening title match. If one club wins both trophies, the league runners-up have been the first replacement since 2009; earlier editions generally used the losing cup finalist. This matters when reading old results: participation does not always mean a club won the cup. Qualification history
The women’s Super Cup is a separate competition, even when staged at the same event. HSG Blomberg-Lippe won the 2026 women’s match against Borussia Dortmund in a penalty shootout, according to the official event page. That trophy is not included in the men’s totals above.
